The Female Parliamentarians’ Forum has initiated a separate investigation into the alleged sexual abuse of housekeepers, in addition to the ongoing preliminary investigations conducted by the parliament itself.
Dr. Sudarshanni Fernandopulle, the Chairperson of the forum and a Member of Parliament, has emphasized that stringent action will be taken against any instances of sexual abuse, irrespective of the individuals’ rank. She further stated that the forum plans to convene during the next parliamentary week to discuss the matter in detail.
Dr. Sudarshanni Fernandopulle has expressed her intention to engage with the female employees who were reportedly subjected to harassment. She has also called upon the Speaker of the Parliament to take strong and decisive action against those responsible for the humiliating incident that occurred within the parliamentary premises.
