An ex-LTTE member and another individual were arrested yesterday (10) by the Anti-Terrorist Unit of the police in the Nachchikuda area of Kilinochchi. The arrests were made in connection with the manufacturing of clay bombs.

The two suspects were found in possession of a significant stock of clay bombs, including 13 large-sized high-powered Claymore bombs, along with 18 claymore bomb covers and additional parts. The former LTTE member, originally from Velankulam, Mannar, had undergone rehabilitation work facilitated by the government.

The former LTTE member, along with a friend, was engaged in repairing boats and working on fiber pots at his friend’s house in Nachchikuda. The police received information about the suspects’ activities, leading to the arrest by the Terrorism Suppression Unit.

The Terrorism Suppression Unit officers, acting on the received information, conducted a raid in Nachchikuda. During the raid, the suspects were caught in the act of manufacturing claymore bombs. A substantial quantity of claymore bomb components and parts were seized from the location.
