Energy Minister & his officials believe that there should be fuel hike – Minister Namal says

The Energy Minister and officials believe that there should be some increase in fuel prices with the current situation, while himself in a stand that It would be better if fuel prices did not go up Minister of Youth and Sports Namal Rajapaksa said in Koggala, Galle.

The Minister said that steps will be taken to reduce fuel prices at the first possible opportunity in the future as well as to provide relief to the people.
He was responding to questions raised by journalists after a discussion at the Koggala Free Trade Zone.

“We have not increased fuel prices in the last one and a half years. This is not a voluntary decision. A decision that must be taken. When a government is formed we have to manage. There are times when tough decisions need to be made in these management activities. Reluctantly, we have to make that decision without regretting it later. We take decisions for the national security of the country, the national economy and the welfare of the people of the country. At this juncture we had to take that decision to strengthen the national economy. ”
