A special inquiry has been into the death of Ven. Jinawansa Thera of Netherlands who lived in the Polgasduwa Forest Hermitage and was found dead in the adjoining lagoon recently under suspicious circumstances.

It is reported that eight units of the Police Department are involved in the special investigation. The body of Ven. Jinawansa Thera, who had been missing for two days, was found on December 8. He was found with his feet tied with a wire which was in turn attached to a cement block.

Police say they suspect the deceased monk may have been murdered by someone.

He was ordained as Jinawansa Thera of the Netherlands and resided at the Polgasduwa Forest Hermitage in Katudampe, Rathgama.
