Keerthi Fernando –

State Minister of Primary healthcare and Covid prevention Dr. Sudarshani Fernandopulle told Lankasara that any attempt by the government to crack down on pressure groups who are crying for the justice to the Easter Sunday attack victims would be slammed by her.

She was responding to a query made by Fr. Cyril Gamini to the CID today (08) regarding her views as a government minister on how to obtain a statement.

“I do not really have any interest in this series of events. They ask who the masterminds behind this attack are. They are asking for an open discourse in the country. Extensive conversation. Not only the Catholic community but every citizen of this country has the right to know. They cry for it. It is a big problem for the government to embarrass those who raise their voices by filing various allegations. I cannot agree with that, ”she added.

She pointed out that the government would be informed in writing about the situation of Catholics and that it was a problem that not all Catholics would come together to raise their voices in Parliament.
