During the Cabinet reshuffle today (23) morning the President has appointed, Dr. Ramesh Pathirana as the new Health Minister, replacing Keheliya Rambukwella.
Dr. Ramesh Pathirana will now serve as both the Minister of Health and Industries, commencing his responsibilities today (23).
Keheliya Rambukwella, the former Health Minister, has been reassigned as the Minister of Environment.
Furthermore, Mahinda Amaraweera has assumed the position of Minister of Plantation Industry, in addition to his existing role as Minister of Agriculture. Consequently, he will serve as both the Minister of Agriculture and Plantation Industries starting today.
Ranjith Siyambalapitiya has been designated as the Non-Cabinet Minister for Plantation Enterprises, alongside his current post as Minister of State for Finance.
The decision to reassign the Health Minister’s role comes amid strong opposition and denials against Keheliya Rambukwella from the entire health sector.
TheGovernment Medical Officers Association had expressed readiness to initiate significant professional actions against him.
