Young Sri Lankan doctor succumbs to Covid 19 at Karapitiya

A young Sri Lankan doctor identified as 32-year-old Dr Gayan Danthanarayana has succumbed to Covid 19 after suffering from complications arising from Covid 19 induced pneumonia.

Dr Danthanarayana was attached to the Ragama Teaching Hospital when he had contracted Covid. He was receiving treatment at the IDH but was later transffered to the Karapitiya Hospital where he was battling for his life while attached to an ECMO machine to provide oxygen to him.

Danthanarayana is a past pupil of Lyceum International School. He was known as a talented paediatrician and an avid guitarist. His mother and wife are both receiving treatment for Covid 19.
