As the protestors storm the President’s House and the Presidential Secretariat, deliberations have begun on a political power transition among the political parties.

According to those sources, President Gotabhaya Rajapaksa may take a political decision by this evening.

Prime Minister Ranil Wickramasinghe, having gauged the pros and cons of the situation, has informed the President to consult Chief Justice Jayantha Jayasuriya and take a decision.

An insider said that the Prime Minister had a lengthy discussion with the President, the Chief Justice and the Attorney General about the next steps in the current crisis. The Prime Minister has also called for a special meeting of party leaders today at 3:00.

People, that thronged Colombo from different parts of the country breached all defences this morning and took possession of the Presidential Palace and the Presidential Secretariat.
