DIG Nalaka De Silva, The former DIG for the Terrorism Investigation Division who was interdicted under the charges of former President Maithreepala Sirisena’s assassination plot has been reinstated. Accordingly, police sources, he has been appointed as the DIG in charge of the Puttalam region.
The DIG was taken in the custody in 2018 following the charges made by a person named Namal Kumara. Disciplinary measures were taken against him based on a complaint made by Namal Kumara that there was a conspiracy to kill the President and he was arrested and remanded by the Criminal Investigation Department. However, the investigations failed to confirm the allegations against him.
Mr. Nalaka de Silva, who was under suspension due to this situation, has recently submitted his grievance to a high-profile figure of the government and accordingly steps have been taken to reinstate him.
