Senior Deputy Inspector General of Police and Acting Inspector General of Police Deshbandu Tennakoon has been appointed as the new Inspector General of Police, says the Presidential Media Division.
This appointment has been made by the powers assigned to Mr. Ranil Wickramasinghe by the provisions of Articles 41c.(1) and 61e.(b) of the Constitution of the Democratic Socialist Republic of Sri Lanka.
The appointment letter was presented to Mr. Deshbandu Tennakone by the President’s Secretary Mr. Saman Ekanayake this afternoon (26) at the President’s Office.
Deshbandu Tennakone joined the police service on 23.02.1998 and he will retire on 07.03.2032.
