Deputy Speaker Ranjith Siyambalapitiya has decided to remain further at the position. Although Siyambalapitiya sent his resignation letter to the President on the 5th, the President declined to accept it and has requested him to remain in office at this volatile situation.
Making a special statement in Parliament, Deputy Speaker said that he would take this decision under two conditions.
As a first condition, Ranjith Siyambalapitiya said that he would remain in the post only for this April.
His second condition is that he not use any of the privileges of the post of Deputy Speaker after his resignation on April 5.
