The Ministry of Defense has ordered the Sri Lanka Navy to hand over the OnBoard Security Teams (OBST) operations and its armoury in Galle to Rakna Arakashaka Lanka and Avant-Garde Joint Venture from the 15th of this month Navy sources said. According to sources, accordingly, arrangements have been made to hand over the relevant Arms, Ammunition and other associated equipment to the Rakna Lanka Avantgarde Joint Venture immediately.
It has been requested that all the weapons, ammunition and all equipment in the arsenal be handed over to the representatives of Rakna Lanka and Avant-Garde by the 15th (the day after tomorrow).
The OBST (OnBoard Security Teams) based in Galle provided arms and equipment to provide protection to the ships due to threats from pirates and smugglers. This activity received a large amount of foreign exchange through the Navy to the State Treasury
