In the early hours of today (11), at approximately 1:30 AM, an earthquake occurred in the deep sea, located 310 kilometers northeast of the Batticaloa coast.
The Bureau of Geology and Mining has reported that the earthquake registered a magnitude of 4.65 on the Richter scale.
Reassuringly, the bureau has confirmed that there is no imminent threat of a tsunami stemming from this earthquake.
