The death toll has risen to 21 following a tragic bus accident in Kothmale this morning, May 11. A Sri Lanka Transport Board (SLTB) bus traveling from Kataragama to Kurunegala overturned in Gerandiella, along the Ramboda Pass on the Nuwara Eliya–Gampola main road.
According to police reports, more than 35 passengers were injured in the accident and have been admitted to the hospital for treatment. Authorities confirmed that all passengers on board sustained injuries.
The bus was en route from Kataragama to Kurunegala via Nuwara Eliya when the incident occurred.
In a separate accident last night (May 10), another bus plunged into a ravine in Diyaraba, Welimada. One passenger was killed and around 20 others were injured.
Both incidents are under investigation.
