Concerns have been raised about the health of other Ministers and MPs who closely associated with State Minister Dayasiri Jayasekara after he tested positive for Covid 19. The Minister is currently being treated at a Hotel quarantine center in Hikkaduwa.

Speaking to Lankasara Minister Jayasekara confirmed that he had been diagnosed with Covid and is currently receiving treatment at the Covid Treatment Center in Hikkaduwa. The Minister said that he had been suffering from the common cold since January 3 and later stayed at home due to fever symptoms. He was later subjected to a PCR test as well as a dengue test.

Jayasekara’s family members and close contacts have also been placed under quarantine. It is reported that Minister Dayasiri Jayasekara has met more people at various places before that including other Ministers and MPs. A recent photograph from a new years event showed Jayasekara singing a song at a party where Minister Wimal Weerawansa, MP Harin Fernando and MP Manusha Nanayakkara were present.

Minister Dayasiri Jayasekara and Minister Nimal Siripala de Silva were also present together at the ceremony held at the SLFP Headquarters at Darly Road to mark the commencement of the new year.
