The continuous exploitation of Sri Lankan youths inMyanmar’s cyber slavery camps has sparked concerns over their safety and well-being. Reports indicate that these youths, skilled in the computer sector and lured by promises of high wages, have fallen victim to the harsh realities of modern-day slavery.

Recently, a young man who managed to escape from one of these camps shed light on the dire situation faced by Sri Lankan workers. He revealed that he was deceived into traveling from Sri Lanka to Dubai, only to be trafficked to a camp in the city of Jongunge, Myanmar.

Disturbingly, the young man disclosed that more individuals, including two girls and another young woman, are slated to be brought into the same slave zone in the coming days.

“We don’t know what to do,” lamented the survivor. “We informed the embassy, the immigration authorities, and even the President about our plight. Yet, the racket of trafficking Sri Lankan nationals continues unabated.”

According to sources, a staggering 56 Sri Lankans are currently detained in cyber slavery camps located in the Myawaddy area of Myanmar. The operation is suspected to be orchestrated by human trafficking networks, exploiting vulnerabilities and trafficking unsuspecting individuals under the guise of employment opportunities.

Efforts are underway to address this alarming situation, with calls for swift action from the Ministry of External Affairs and international bodies to intervene and rescue those trapped in these exploitative conditions.
