Covid runs amok in CID as suspects including ‘Podi Lassie’ test positive

A senior police officer said that a group of suspects involved in organized crimes, including notorious underworld figure Janith Madusanka alias Podi Lassie, who was being held in custody by the CID for interrogations have been taken to the Kalutara Police College Covid Treatment Center amid tight security after testing positive for Covid.

He further stated that the CID and the Colombo Crimes Division have deployed armed officers inside the treatment center where the organized criminals are being held and the STF has also tightened security around the area.


Other key suspects and convicts in custody who have tested positive include, SSP Shani Abeysekara, Attorney Hejaaz Hizbullah, former DIG Vass Gunawardena and underworld figure Dharmakeerthi Perera alias Kosgoda Tharaka.
