Covid cases in the South crosses 800 mark

The number of corona infected patients reported from the Southern Province has increased to 835 by yesterday (26) the Coordinating Officer of the Kovid Operations Coordinating Office in the Southern Province, Chamara Mahagamage said. 

He said that 43 cases of new corona infection were reported from the Southern Province yesterday (26) alone. The highest number of Covid infected patients has been reported from the Southern Province so far and the number is 467 from the Galle District. 297 cases have been reported from Matara district and 71 cases of corona have been reported from the Hambantota district.

At present 4700 persons belonging to 2320 families in the Southern Province are being quarantined in their homes, he said. He further stated that 1613 persons belonging to 876 families in the Galle District, 1493 persons belonging to 412 families in the Matara District and 1594 persons belonging to 1032 families in the Hambantota District are being quarantined.
