The Government Medical Officers’ Association (GMOA) has warned that the country would have to be locked down by August or September unless identified Grama Seva divisions at the risk of Covid 19 are isolated and PCR tests are conducted on the residents.

The GMOA noted that they had requested the number of PCR testing to be increased in April but however the Health Officials did not heed their warnings or requests. Secretary of the GMOA Dr Haritha Aluthge said this has led to a possible second wave of Covid 19 in the country.

He also said the GMOA will present a proposal to President Gotabaya Rajapaksa today (13) to increase PCR testing in the country.
