Former Secretary to the President Dr. P.B Jayasundara, former Central Bank Governors Ajith Nivard Cabraal, Prof. W.D Lakshman, former Secretary to the Ministry of Finance S.R Attygalle and several other officials have been summoned to Committee of Public Finance of the Parliament today. accused of taking decisions that led to the collapse of the Sri Lankan economy. The day has been convened before the Public Finance Committee in Parliament.
Former Minister Anura Priyadarshana Yapa Lankasara, Chairman of the Parliamentary Committee on Public Finance stated that in addition to these four officials, the current Governor of the Central Bank Dr. Nandalal Weerasinghe, Secretary to the Ministry of Finance Mahinda Siriwardena and members of the Monetary Board have also been summoned before the Committee today. The committee will meet at 4 pm in the Parliament complex to question them on their recent decisions.
The officials who spearheaded and influenced economic decisions, including the worst foreign exchange crisis in history, were recently revealed at the Committee on Public Enterprises, and Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe recently suggested that these officials be summoned before the Monetary Committee.
