A controversial police inspector from the Colombo Crime Division (CCD) has fled the country as investigations into several controversial crimes involving CCD officers are set to begin, police sources reported.
This inspector, who has been accused of playing a key role in some of these crimes and alleged to have been involved in money laundering, was known for living a lavish lifestyle, spending large sums of money to maintain his luxurious way of life.
He initially joined the police force as a constable and later rose to the rank of inspector. Over time, he was accused of accumulating vast wealth through questionable means.
Reports also indicate that he sent his family out of the country before making his own escape. Sources within the Colombo Crime Division suggest that he is currently living in a Western country.
