Deputy Director of Health Services, Dr. G. Wijesuriya, has provided an update on the children injured in yesterday’s (15) tragic incidentat Weragoda Kanitu Vidyalaya in Wellampitiya, where a concrete wall collapsed.
According to Dr. Wijesuriya, the children admitted to Colombo National Hospital and Ridgeway Children’s Hospital are showing signs of improvement. However, he noted that one child in the intensive care unit at Colombo National Hospital is in a critical condition.
In light of the incident, Dr. Wijesuriya urges teachers and adults to be vigilant about potential hazards in school grounds, especially during adverse weather conditions.
Education Minister Susil Premajayantha has directed the Regional Director of Education to conduct immediate investigations and submit a report on the tragic incident.
