Colombo High Court Judge Manjula Thilakaratne has withdrawn from the high-profile Krrish deal case, which involves allegations of financial misconduct in a major foreign investment project.
The case is filed against Namal Rajapaksa, a Member of Parliament and the son of former Sri Lankan President Mahinda Rajapaksa. The Krrish deal, a controversial real estate investment project by India’s Krrish Group, was marred by allegations of corruption and illegal financial transactions. Authorities have accused Namal Rajapaksa of misusing funds related to the project.

During a court session today, Judge Manjula Thilakaratne announced his decision to step down from hearing the case. He cited comments made about him on Facebook by two individuals, Sanath Balasuriya and Poddala Jayantha, as the reason for his withdrawal.
Following his decision, Judge Thilakaratne stated in open court that the case will now be referred to Colombo Chief High Court Judge Adithya Patabendi, who will appoint a suitable judge to continue the proceedings.
The Krrish deal case remains one of the most closely watched legal battles in Sri Lanka, as it involves allegations of high-level corruption linked to powerful political figures.
