Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna (SLPP) Parliamentarian Namal Rajapaksa has been indicted n the high court.
The Attorney General has filed indictments against Namal Rajapaksha , over the alleged misappropriation of Rs.70 million belonging to Krrish Company.
The misappropriation of Rs. 70 million provided by the Indian real estate company Krrish Lanka Pvt. Ltd. for the development of rugby in Sri Lanka has been misappropriated ,according to the charge N.amal Rajapaksa who is currently out on bail concerning this incident has always rejected chargers. .
Rajapaksa described the indictment as part of a “political witch hunt” by the National People’s Power (NPP) government. The case, filed nearly eight years after the initial investigation under the Yahapalanaya administration, has drawn criticism from Rajapaksa, who questioned the timing of the charges.
“It is evident that the present government has launched a political witch hunt against the Rajapaksa family. The NPP government seems to believe that by fabricating allegations against us, they can divert attention from their failures,” Rajapaksa said.

The case linked to a business process outsourcing (BPO) company called HelloCorp, which has been linked to financial mismanagement and potential corruption is another case against Namal Rajapaksha is another cae that has been on hold for a long time .
Initially, HelloCorp was owned by Expolanka Holdings PLC, a Sri Lankan conglomerate. One of HelloCorp’s major assets was a lucrative contract with the national airline, SriLankan Airlines. According to Expolanka’s 2012/13 annual report, the company sold its stake in HelloCorp for Rs. 60 million. At the same time, the CEO of HelloCorp, Ravi Raveendran, also sold his 40% share.
A company statement revealed that the shares were sold to the Senok Group of Companies, a business conglomerate headed by businessman Noel Selvanayagam. In the official annual return of HelloCorp filed in October 2014, it was revealed that the company was under the control of Gowers Corporate Services (GCS), a company owned by Namal Rajapaksa. Namal Rajapaksa is listed as the sole shareholder of GCS, which meant his company effectively controlled HelloCorp.
Political Influence:
The case has raised serious concerns about the misuse of political influence, as Namal Rajapaksa and his associates are accused of using state resources and political connections to benefit their business interests. Investigations have focused on whether this led to unfair advantages in obtaining government contracts and investments. These actions are part of a broader investigation into the Rajapaksa family’s influence on Sri Lanka’s political and economic systems.
Case to Commence
The legal proceedings around the HelloCorp case have been slow, with multiple delays in court. The Financial Crimes Investigation Division (FCID) has filed charges, and Namal Rajapaksa faces accusations of corruption and money laundering, particularly related to the acquisition of HelloCorp. Several of his business associates have also faced legal action, and arrest warrants have been issued for key figures involved in the case.
Despite these ongoing investigations, Namal Rajapaksa has denied any wrongdoing. As of 2025, the case remains unresolved, with no final verdict yet. The legal proceedings continue, and there isa high possibility for the case to be commenced as the new government has pledged to expedite cases that have been in cold store due to political influence.
