Starting from today (01), the prices of cigarettes have been increased across four categories. The hike is attributed to an increase in excise duty and VAT, resulting in increments of Rs 5, Rs 15, Rs 20, and Rs 25 for different cigarette products.
Distilleries Company of Sri Lanka PLC, the prominent alcohol producer in the country, had previously announced the price adjustments for its alcohol products. In particular, the price of their popular stone liquor saw an increase of Rs. 90 per 750 ml bottle, Rs. 50 per 375 ml fractional bottle, and Rs. 20 per 180 ml bottle.
