The ship Hippo Spirit, which had been stranded in the western seas off the coast of Sri Lanka for several days, was heading towards Singapore with the rejected Chinese organic fertilizer sources said. According to the sources, the ship has not been detected by the Sri Lankan radar as well as it has deactivated vessels’s for the past 18 days and the Automatic Identification System (AIS). The authorities said that it has not been updated it’s location for 18 days.
The ship, which was carrying nearly 20,000 metric tons of organic fertilizer from China’s Qingdao Sewing Biotech, was scheduled to arrive at the Port of Colombo on the 22nd, but was not allowed to enter the port due to the presence of harmful microorganisms. The government has informed the Sri Lankan port authorities that the ship would not be allowed to enter all Sri Lankan ports.
However, port sources revealed to Lankasara that the ship is currently sailing back towards Singapore.
However, sources said that various sections are still in vigilant about the ship.
