The Government Medical Officers Association (GMOA) has called on the government to gazette the Covid 19 guidelines issued to stop its spread immediately.
According to the GMOA Secretary Dr. Haritha Aluthge, the people would only adhere to the guidelines if it is made compulsory which would assist in combating the virus.
He stressed that merely posting the guidelines on the website of the Ministry of Health website will not make it legally binding and enforce people to adhere to them.
He said some officials in the Ministry have opined that the guidelines might be incorrectly implemented by certain parties. However, Dr. Aluthge said if they are implemented under the guidance of health officials this risk can be minimized.
