The Cabinet has decided to restructure the Electricity Board as soon as possible. The Cabinet met yesterday (01) under the chair of President Ranil Wickremesinghe has extensively discussed the restructuring of the Ceylon Electricity Board.
Following the discussions the Cabinet has decided that the proposals for that should be submitted for the approval of the parliament within a month.Under the restructuring Ceylon electricity board will be unbundled in to 06 independent institutions each will be dedicated only for power generation, transmission or distribution.
An electricity union leader told Lankasara that the trade unions are strongly protesting against the decision taken to restructure the electricity board and will meet soon to discuss and take a decision
