Powerful bureaucrat Paskaralingam also named in Pandora papers!

One time Sri Lankan powerful bureaucrat R. Paskaralingam’s name also has been revealed in Pandora Papers, the latest disclosure of International Consortium of Investigative Journalists (ICIJ) on millions of undisclosed deals done by influencial people acorss the world.

According to a report written by an Investigative Journalist Scilla Alecci ICIJ has revealed R. Paskaralingam, a powerful government official and political adviser under the UNP government. He has invested millions in the British Virgin Islands and has invested in a number of properties, including real estate and a private educational institution, in Sri Lanka.

Paskaralingam, a close associate of President Ranasinghe Premadasa, served as Secretary to the Ministry of Finance and Planning during his tenure.

In addition, he has served as an advisor to the Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe, during which time he has acted as an intermediary at various levels for many government development projects.

Paskaralingam, who set up an investment fund in the British Virgin Islands in 2012, has been described as a retired person.

The 91-year-old Paskaralingam has not yet responded to questions raised by the International Association of Investigative Journalists.

The investment trust has a number of businesses registered in the British Virgin Islands and Singapore, and a leading private educational institution in Sri Lanka, Horizon College of Business and Technology, Malabe. also holds shares in those investments.
