Yesterday (17) the Kandy Police Fraud Investigation Division arrested Mahmud Hashin Aleem Mahmud Razik (58), brother of Samagi Janabalawega’s Kandy District Member of Parliament, MHA Halim, under the suspicion of forging visas issued by the Embassy of the United Arab Emirates.
The suspect is alleged to have deceived numerous individuals by promising job opportunities in Dubai.
Following three complaints of money fraud, the Fraud Investigation Division confirmed the fake visas and the suspect has been remanded until the 21st of this month.
Further investigations are being conducted by the Kandy Headquarters Police Special Crime Investigation Division under the direction of Chief Inspector W. M. S. Uvindasiri, with the assistance of Inspector Sanjeeva, Sergeant Hettiarachchi, and Constable Nuwan.
