The Commission to Investigate Allegations of Bribery or Corruption (CIABOC) has announced that Executive Grade public officials who fail to submit their asset and liability declarations by 31 August 2025 will face legal action.
In a statement issued recently, the Commission reminded that officials required to file their declarations by 31 March were expected to submit them to the heads of their respective institutions by 30 June, allowing adequate time for submission to CIABOC.
However, the Commission warned that those who fail to meet the final deadline will be prosecuted under Section 90 of the Anti-Corruption Act, No. 9 of 2023.
CIABOC also stated that declarations submitted between 30 June and 31 August will still be accepted, but a fine will be imposed by the provisions of the Act.
Executive Grade public officials who have not yet complied are strongly urged to do so without delay to avoid administrative penalties. Furthermore, the Commission emphasized that institutional heads are required to accept declarations submitted after 30 June. If an official’s declaration is refused, the matter should be reported directly to CIABOC.
