The body of the 28-year-old Sri Lankan student, who lost his life in a car accident caused by a drunk driver in Canada, was returned to Sri Lanka yesterday (11) and is placed at his home at Nadun Uyana, Mathgoda.
Vinoj Yasanga Jayasundara, a resident of Nandun Uyan, Mattegoda, was pursuing a Doctorate degree at the University of Maryland, USA, after obtaining a degree in electronic engineering from the University of Moratuwa.
On June 22nd, while on his way to deliver a research paper related to his Ph.D. in Vancouver, Canada, a speeding car hit Vinoj’s parked car from behind near an electric signal board.
Vinoj also held a degree in Information Technology and a Bachelor of Laws from England and was working at Apple Company in California before beginning his Ph.D. studies.
After 19 days, Vinoj’s body was finally returned to Sri Lanka, and his last rites are set to take place at the Manangoda Family Cemetery in Batapola, Galle.
