Following the retirement announcement of  cricketer Bhanuka Rajapaksa from International Cricket , Sri Lanka Cricket  has decided to impose several conditions on national players who intend to retire from national cricket with immediate effect.

According to the SLC national players who are willing  to retire from national cricket, should officially notify three months before of the desired retirement date. In addition retired national players who wish to obtain the ‘’No Objection Certificates’’ (NOCs) to play franchise league tournaments overseas will only be issued to such players who have completed six months of their effective date of retirement.

And also retired national players will be considered eligible for local leagues , only if they have played 80% of matches in the domestic Cricket Competitions conducted in the season prior to the league matches, the SLC further said.

The  decision to impose such conditions has been taken by the executive committee of SLC at a meeting held on Friday in respect of players who have retired or contemplating to retire from national cricket.
