Belihul Oya takes a life of a 13-year girl: A 12 yr boy is missing!

A 13-year-old girl has died after drowning and a 12-year-old boy is missing while bathing in Belihul Oya today. Victims are members of related families Police sources said.

Among these two children, the girl drowned while bathing in the Ambagaspitiya area of Mathura. Local residents rescued her and she died while being admitted to Rikilagaskada Hospital. Police said the body of the boy has not been found yet.

The 21-year-old boy and girl residents of the Tabarawa area in Mathurata, along with their cousin, came to see a relic exhibition at the Padiyapalella temple and then went to Belihul Oya near the Morapaya temple to bathe.

While swimming, the girl drowned in the stream. The investigation has revealed that both were swept away by the current while the 12-year-old tried to save her.

Later, after the relative sought the help of the local residents, the girl was rescued and taken to the hospital.
Operations are underway to trace the missing child.
