The Bar Association of Sri Lanka (BASL) concerns on the deaths of suspects Kosgoda Tharaka alias Dharmakeerthi Tharaka Wijesekera and Melon Babula alias Uru Juwa who were shot dead by police while in police custody. The BASL further emphasizes that such deaths are an affront to the Ruile of Law and calls up on the President and the government to take a serious not on such incidents.
The Executive Committee of the Bar Association of Sri Lanka has issued a statement stating that these deaths have all the hallmarks of Extra Judicial Killings and called on the government to ensure the safety of those in custody.
