Former Finance Minister and the founder of the Sri Lanka Pdoujana Peramuna the main party of ruling alliance Basil Rajapaksa said that he would resign from the post of National List Member of Parliament today.
He said that he had accepted the post of Member of Parliament at the invitation of the SLPP and had taken over the post of Minister of Finance at the invitation of the President, adding that he had left the post of Minister of Finance along with other Ministers three months ago to appoint a new Cabinet.
Basil Rajapaksa said today that he would also resign from the National List, saying that the decision was not taken because of the 21st amendment to the constitution.
“Governance and politics are two. I will be completely out from governance but will further remain in politics . I will continue to do politics. Basil Rajapaksa MP said.
