Bandula Lal Bandarigoda was sworn in today as a Member of Parliament before Speaker Mahinda Yapa Abeywardena. He assumed the position following the vacancy left by former Minister Manusha Nanayakkara, who lost his Parliamentary seat.
Former Ministers Manusha Nanayakkara and Harin Fernando both lost their seats after crossing over to the United National Party (UNP) to support President Ranil Wickremesinghe.
After losing their parliamentary seats, Nanayakkara and Fernando were appointed as advisors to the President.
