The government’s Analyst ‘s report has confirmed that the rice that was brought for the school children’s lunch project implemented by the World Food program and stored in a Veyangoda government warehouse is unfit for human consumptionThe public health inspectors’ association says .
Due to the constant complaints regarding the quality of this rice, the public health inspectors of the Veyangoda Health Medical Officer’s office have taken more than a thousand samples of the rice and sent to the Department of Government Analyst .
Chairman of Public Health Inspectors Association Upul Rohana said that according to the government Analyst the rice samples received from those stocks of Veyangoda warehouse ,more than 50 percent of the samples have been damaged by insects and the rice is unfit for human consumption.
Upul Rohana revealed that in view of the current situation, the release of rice stocks from the relevant warehouse has been temporarily suspended
