The management authority of a prominent tourist hotel in Hatton, working in collaboration with Dimbula Pathana police, has successfully exposed a conspiracy by a Romanian couple attempting to fabricate a situation for insurance claims.
The Romanian couple, arriving for an 8-day visit through a travel service company, stayed at the tourist hotel for two days (24-25) before embarking on a trip to Kandy on Tuesday (26).
Upon their arrival at the hotel yesterday (24), the couple booked an expensive room and, on the night of that day, the Romanian woman (35) requested a massage. After receiving services from a female employee in the massage department, she then contacted the hotel management, expressing a desire for a male masseur.
Following the additional service, the woman alleged that the masseur had attempted to molest her. The hotel management promptly notified the police, who arrived to record the complaint from the Romanian woman.
Despite her request to waive charges until departure, the hotel management, following proper procedures, refused and issued a lawyer’s letter. Emphasizing the appropriate course of action in such incidents is to file a complaint with the police, the hotel management informed the tourism service agency that referred the Romanian couple to the hotel about the situation.
