Thilanga Sumathipala has criticised the Archbishop of Colombo that he is not a clergyman was but a layman.

He told the Colombo District Convention of the Sri Lanka Freedom Party that the Cardinal was engaging in low-level politics by gossiping around the world. Thilanga Sumathipala said that no religious leader had defended the terrorists as lowly as he did.

He said that the Cardinal had not slandered the world in the face of the terrorist attacks on the Jaya Sri Maha Bodhi, the Temple of the Tooth and the Aranthalawa massacre. The cardinal is planning to file a case against his leader Maithripala Sirisena and make him a defendant.

Thilanga Sumathipala, who is well known in the society as a bookie, was defeated in the last election. He was addressing the Sri Lanka Freedom Party Colombo District Convention.

“Jaya Sri Maha Bodhi was attacked and the Temple of the Tooth was attacked. Aranthalawa was beaten. Neither Emanuel nor Cardinal went out into the world to gossip at the same time we fought for twenty or thirty years. ”
”

“He is politicizing in a very low way for his own goal. None of our religious leaders protected the terrorists in this manner. During the time of Mrs. Chandrika, J.R. How many bombs were there during Jayewardene’s and Premadasa’s and how many thousands died? ”

He is a religious leader who addresses a group in one box. You have to understand your part first. He is a layman to us no matter what religion he belongs to. Not a priest. We need to understand the difference between a clergyman and a layman. “
