A gas stove connected to a gas cylinder of the new stock of Litro with a new seal exploded and minor injuries were reported to the housewife and the homeowner in the Modarahena, Kadduwa, Karagoda Uyangoda area in the Kamburupitiya police area.
After the explosion the households have found that the so called new red seal was placed above the old blue seal and it is suspected that the company have put a new seal for a cylinder with the old stock.
The blast had taken place at Dharmasena’s house at around 9 last night.
The homeowners said they had bought a gas cylinder with a red seal and when they removed the seal, an old blue seal had appeared beneath it. When we looked at that cylinder, we also saw parts of its blue seal.
“We bought a gas cylinder after hardly earning money for two days labour work. Sometimes the gas runs out for a month and a half .The gas cylinder exploded and the stoves we bought for Rs.8000 rupees. The dinner we prepared for last night scattered through out the kitchen“
“Why is the government not looking into this? Even though the government is not aware of this, companies are doing this kind of work. We are helpless, gentlemen, ”the men told us.
