A large number of people protested yesterday (3) against the printing of certificates in Sinhala only for the winners of a competition held by the National Youth Services Council in Kilinochchi.
These certificates have been issued by the Youth Services Council for a home gardening competition held among the youth of the province.
After receiving the certificates, the youths protested, saying that no matter how important the certificate was, they will be treated unfairly as the certificates issued in Sinhala only will not be noticed in employment interviews conducted in the Northern Province.
For this reason, they stated that they were protesting against the certificates and it has nothing to do with any racial sentiment.
