Twelve cattle were killed and six others were injured when an unexpected train traveling on the Northern Railway collided with a herd of cattle this morning.
A herd of cattle was involved in the accident in the Kodigamam Aram area in Jaffna.
Cattle owners have arrived and taken away the injured cattle and have taken steps to bury the dead cattle near the railway track.
The owners of the dead cattle stated that the cattle used to travel freely across the railway line as there was no train running on the Northern Railway for some time and the cows were killed when they were hit by the train which came suddenly.
