Cricket sources reveal that Chinthaka Mayadunna, a Puttalam District Member of Parliament, who stood alone in supporting the Cricket Control Board amid a parliamentary resolution against corruption, is the Chairman of the Puttalam District Cricket Association and is allegedly backed by the current Cricket Control Board Chairman.
These sources suggest that district cricket association presidents, including Mayadunna, are receiving a monthly allowance of nearly two lakh rupees from the cricket body for supporting the current cricket board chairman. Despite being volunteer officers, the district cricket chairmen are implicated in alleged financial arrangements.

In a special statement to Parliament, the Sports Minister announced a severe crackdown on corruption within cricket administration. He highlighted the need to dissolve 85 associations, including 29 controlled associations and 23 affiliated associations, as part of the crackdown on corrupt practices.
The Sports Minister called for bipartisan support to enact the new Cricket Act and dissolve the Affiliated Associations immediately.
