Air Vice Marshal Udeni Rajapakse Appointed as New Air Force Commander

Air Vice Marshal Udeni Rajapakse has been appointed as the new Air Force Commander, with the appointment letter presented by Presidential Secretary Saman Ekanayake at the Presidential Office on the 28th.

Recognizing his outstanding service, President Ranil Wickremesinghe has promoted Air Vice Marshal Udeni Rajapakse to the rank of Air Marshal, effective from tomorrow (30), in conjunction with his new role as Air Force Commander.

Alumni of Ananda Vidyalaya, Colombo, Air Vice Marshal Udeni Rajapakse becomes the 19th Air Force Commander of the country and the first one appointed from Ananda Vidyalaya.

His journey began in 1988 when he joined the Kotalawala Defense College as a cadet officer, where he excelled as the best cadet in the 33rd Air Cadet Course. With a combination of local and foreign training, he established himself as an exceptional pilot.
