The Attorney General has directed the Inspector General of Police to arrest more than 20 people who were allegedly connected with the violence on 9 May according to unconfirmed reports.
Among those ordered to be arrested are Pohottuwa MPs Sanath Nishantha and Johnston Fernando, Moratuwa Mayor Saman Lal Fernando and Senior DIG in charge of the western province Deshabandu Tennekoon.
Meanwhile the Hiru newscast reported AG has instructed the DIG of the CID today to obtain statements from 25 persons including MPs Johnston Fernando, Sanath Nishantha, Pavithra Wanniarachchi & Senior DIG Western Province Deshabandu Tennakoon & to conduct investigations regarding the attacks in Kollupitiya & Galle Face on 9 May-
