An additional secretary to the Ministry of Education has complained to the police that his position has been misused to gain admission to the St. Anthony’s girl’s school in Kandy.

Additional Secretary Hemantha Udayakumara Prematilake has complained to the Special Criminal Investigation Bureau of the police in Kandy that her name, position, and letterheads had been misused by certain parties to gain admission to eighteen students to the St. Anthony’s Girls School in Katugastota.

She has told the police that these admissions took place between 2018 and 2020 by using a fake official seal and a fake signature, misusing her name and her position.

The additional secretary has requested that action be taken against the persons who forged her signature and used fake documents, including her letterhead, to gain admission to the school.

It was also revealed in the investigation conducted by the audit department that these students had been enrolled in the classes of 02, 03, 04, 07, 08, and 09 years of school. During an audit, it was revealed that the Ministry of Education letterhead used for those letters was fraudulently prepared.

According to the information from the Central Province Ministry of Education, the fake documents were sent directly to the principal, who has also previously filed a complaint with the Kandy Special Criminal Investigation Division.

Investigations have already started in this regard.
