Popular actress Semini Iddamalgoda was arrested by the Welikada Police yesterday (10th) on an outstanding warrant related to her failure to appear in court over unpaid salaries to her company’s employees. According to the Police, she was running a security company, and several complaints claimed that several employees were not paid.
She was taken into custody when she visited the Welikada Police Station to file a complaint regarding a road accident.
Police revealed that warrants had been issued against Iddamalgoda for some time. However, certain officers had reportedly failed to act on them, with accusations of deliberately concealing the warrants. This inaction prompted the Nugegoda Court to issue a notice to the Divisional Superintendent of Police in Nugegoda.
The arrest came following a recent change in the Officer-in-Charge (OIC) at the Welikada Police Station. The new OIC has been taking steps to enforce court-issued warrants, including those against Iddamalgoda.
Semini Iddamalgoda is scheduled to be produced before the court.
