It was reported that actress Damitha Abeyratne, who announced her plan to contest for the Samagi Jana Sandhanaya in the Ratnapura district for the general election, faced disappointment today (11th). She went to Ratnapura to sign her nomination papers but was surprised to find out that her name was not on the nomination list.
Damitha was unaware that her name had been left out until she arrived at the Ratnapura District General Secretary’s office. Previously, she had signed the nomination papers of the alliance to contest in the district.
However, the final nomination list for Samagi Jana Balavega, which is contesting in the Ratnapura district, was handed over by Hesha Withanage, the district leader of the party, to Ratnapura District Secretary and Electoral Officer Wasantha Gunaratne—without Damitha Abeyratne’s name on it.
