A 38-year-old mother was arrested by the Police last night (28) for cultivating cannabis in a greenhouse in the Miyenarawa area in Welimada.
The raid was carried out by the Special Task Force and handed her over to Welimada Police with those 1700 cannabis plants.
The STF has acted on tip off received by the Commanding Officer of the Nuwara Eliya Police Special Task Force, Inspector HMJ Herath.
The Nuwara Eliya Police Special Task Force (STF) said that the woman who is a mother of one’s husband was an Army soldier.
The seized cannabis plants were 3 to 5 feet high and weighed about 25 kilograms, police said.
The raid was carried out under the supervision of Inspector HMJ Herath, Commanding Officer, Nuwara Eliya STF, on the instructions of STF Central Zonal Commander SSP Ratnapitiya and Divisional Commander SP Neththasinghe.
